Zusammenfassung: | Although adequate methodology has been devised by Orton & Gillingham, few dyslexia studies have been done recently by qualified persons. Many find research confusing & difficult to carry out, but the actual techniques are simple; it is maintaining an open mind that is complex. Children must not be exploited in research - they must be viewed as maturing organisms displaying greater complexity with greater development & be treated holistically, ie, in conjunction with their environment. "Before & after" research may be difficult because: (1) inadequate tools exist for before & after assessment, (2) misunderstanding of dyslexia by educators & other adults influencing the dyslexic child, (3) lack of funds, (4) lack of research training, & (5) "no time." Qualified persons should contribute all that they can to dyslexia research. T. Lamb |
