It contains one hundred twenty headings consisting of single languages or language families under which is included an introduction detailing the types of works included in that section. There are minor defects, eg, a somewhat arbitrary placement of items under a category. Furthermore, theoretical issues are skirted & no discussion of disputed pidgins or creoles is included. Despite such reservations, the book is recommended as a source for continued study of pidgins & creoles. T. Lamb
