Zusammenfassung: | Various types of vocabulary expansion exercises are discussed, focusing on possible exercise types for advanced & beginning students on the relationship between language & society. Various profession titles are the particular vocabulary area for this study; they are more strongly differentiated by social & functional factors than are most other semantic fields. Such professional titles & designations are classified as being of the colloq or the literary lang. Under the implementation of socialism, differences between the literary & colloq languages are diminishing, as are differences between various dialects. Various stylistic factors are examined for function, level, & coloring of speech. Under socialism, what were once socially distinguishable features are now being transformed into stylistic variants. Word-formation processes are discussed, especially the role of synonyms. Onomasiological & semantic aspects of lexical uniformities are best studied with the aid of text analyses, substitution tests, collocation tests, & dictionary comparisons. A complex analysis of lexical unities can help clarify the relationship between language & society & also of lexical-semantic components. 1 Table. M. Meeks |
