Zusammenfassung:This book is another important contribution to the field of Modern Greek (MG) linguistics It gives a detailed analysis of one particular Cypriot Greek dialect, including: morphology underlying systematic phonemes, surface contrasts (taxonomic phonemics), phonotactics, & intonation. The approach is partly structuralist (surface contrasts & phonotactics) & partly generative (morphophonemics). This combination of models succeeds in revealing both the individual characteristics of this dialect, mostly found on the surface phonology, as well as the underlying relationship of it to other Greek dialects & to standard Gr, which is more easily seen in the morphology & morphophonemics.
