Zusammenfassung:An analysis of the predictive validity and factor structure of the ABC Inventory, a "quick" test of kindergarten readiness widely used in Michigan, but not thoroughly researched. Preschoolers' scores on this test were compared with their scores on the Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT). The MRT is accepted as a measure of kindergarten achievement because it: (1) measures abilities which are commonly emphasized in kindergarten programs; and (2) predicts first grade achievement quite well. The sampling method and results are discussed, and the ABC and MRT factor structures are illustrated by two tables. The predictive accuracy of the ABC was very high in terms of identifying those children who could be expected to achieve at or above the kindergarten average in conceptual and perceptual motor skills. The ABC Inventory cannot predict social or emotional readiness; it is, however, as good as any single test of its type. J. Hartling
