Zusammenfassung: | An important component of foreign language teacher training in the 1970s is the individualization of foreign language instruction. The prospective teacher needs to experience programs of individualized instruction directly if he is to become qualified to implement them. Simulation is a means of providing such experience. Procedures for simulation in a self-paced program at the University of South Carolina are outlined. Student responses to this activity as a part of the undergraduate foreign language teaching methods course have been most favorable. This is the first in a series of steps at the University of South Carolina intended to provide a three-year undergraduate, preservice foreign language teacher education program that will facilitate foreign language learning in the 1970s.
