HIV seroprevalence in intravenous drug users: Los Angeles, California, 1986

Studied a random sample of 790 clients, enrolled in either methadone maintenance or detoxification programs. Thirteen were seropositive; of these, 5 were homosexual/bisexual males and 3 were female prostitutes. 95% of all participants reported sharing needles. (Abstract amended)
