BIBLIOTECAS DIGITALES Y OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE

This work treats the use of free software (open source software) and the limited use by the librarian community in the implantation of these products for the digital libraries as a way for the information management. The great virtue of this type of product is to be able to accede the source codes, the easy management of contents, in the functions of classification and all operational resources. This possibility rests on the fact that all the access is opened. The mission of this type of software for digital libraries is to facilitate the storage of contents, to offer the possibility to adopt new tools, to have technological advances, to provide more autonomy to the users, to collaborate in virtual cooperative atmospheres, digital creation of educational surroundings and make publications.
