An examination of the New American strike statistics in analysing aggregate strike incidence

In 1982, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics began a new policy of collecting strike data only for work stoppages involving 1000 or more workers. Tests whether the new series of large scale strike activity is reasonably representative of all strikes in the US. This is done by estimating aggregate time series strike equations for all, large, and small strikes, for the years data is available for all three categories. (Abstract amended)
