China's environmental protection objectives by the year 2000

The major task is to implement the environmental protection strategy in coordination with socioeconomic development, to control actively the industrial pollution, to make great efforts to protect and use reasonably all natural resources, to initiate comprehensive renovation and control of urban and rural environmental pollution, and to preserve the natural ecosystem.
