Zusammenfassung:	The Gateway Service Center of Chinese Journal Publications was established at the University of Pittsburgh's library system in December, 1998, to deliver digital copies of Chinese journal articles from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to U.S. researchers. This project is based on a “gateway” model for global resource sharing that is outlined fully in this article as one component of the emerging global virtual library.
