Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the literature concerning the prevalence of violent acts by patients against psychiatry trainees and discusses their psychological implications. Results indicate that between 36 and 64% report having been assaulted by patients and that 90% report either patient violence or threats of violence. Considers possible preventive interventions such as education and training of trainees in early recognition of potential violence and in methods of de-escalation. Also addresses how to ensure a rapid response to such incidents. |
