Zusammenfassung:Access to the information of small-town newspapers is limited by both availability of the papers and the lack of suitable indexes. In an effort to solve these problems, the authors have started an index-abstract, obtained funding, and are computerizing the index for the Milledgeville Southern Recorder. The project and its successor newspapers (1820—present) will be of value to librarians, historians, genealogists, and public officials. Other libraries may want to emulate the efforts of the authors.
