Zusammenfassung:Archivists have come to recognize the need for management training; but the profession has yet to reach a consensus regarding the most appropriate content, circumstances, or source of such training. This article examines the ways in which management is taught in the fields of business and library science. It evaluates how management skills have been transmitted within the archival profession and outlines ways in which such training might be promoted in the future. The role of the Society of American Archivists in terms of education guidelines and continuing education programs is discussed, as is the fellowship program sponsored by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
