The need for information and some aspects of information retrieval systems construction

The satisfaction of the information needs (IN) of the system (a human being) may be realized in two different ways. The first way is to try to find the needed information among the store of knowledge accumulated by mankind. The second approach is to produce that information oneself. Strictly speaking, this second method refers to the field of human activity known as science. Thus, from the informational point of view, one may state that science is a certain activity which obtains information with aim of satisfying IN.
