Zusammenfassung: | A considerable amount of archival material relating to Africa, Asia and Oceania has been created by the various activities of Austrian diplomats, merchants and pilgrims since the early modern period. Attempts to inventory this material in the form of subject-oriented guides date back to the beginning of this century. A more systematic approach to a survey of the source material has recently been carried out within the framework of the Guide to the sources of the history of nations. Austria's participation in this project has lasted for almost twenty years, culminating in the publication of a volume intended to give a new impetus to future research in the field of non-European history. |
