The inadequacy of environmental protection mechanisms in the Mekong River Basin Agreement

The 1995 Agreement on the Cooperation for Sustainable Development of the Mekong River Basin (the Mekong Agreement) - adequacy of the agreement since the 1997 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational uses of International Watercourses (the Watercourses Convention) - natural features of the Mekong Basin and associated environmental problems - cooperation and conflict among Mekong Basin States which have contributed to the poor wording of the agreement - arguments for the revision of the Mekong Agreement to follow the principles in the Watercourses Convention.
