Zusammenfassung:Crow-type structures represent a special kind of intergenerational co-classification. They were seldom considered with other intergenerational structures, with the exception of Omaha-type structures. Because Navajo society works with different types of intergenerational rules (Crow-type rules and other, but not Omaha-type rules), this society can be taken as favorable example. The place of these rules in Navajo kin-classification is shown in a systematic description. Further it is argued that the Crow (and Omaha) rules as well as another type of intergenerational rule are connected with the concepts of power and solidarity, concepts which are universally represented in human society.
