Josephus slavonice versus Josephus graece: Towards a Typology of Divergence

Major textual divergences between the Slavonic and Greek versions of Josephus Flavius' Jewish War are a familiar topic of study. The present paper attempts to identify and categorize minor phraseological divergences which may cast a light on the relationship between the two versions, and whether they are based on the drafts of which Josephus tells us, one for his Jewish compatriots, one for his Greek and Roman readers. Some types of divergence support this interpretation. Examples for comment are taken from the first part of Book One: an appendix lists in categories all cases from Book One.
