Zusammenfassung: | In the stormy events, including very strong and massive labour protests, which started the process of democratic changes in our country, the strike of the workers in the Kolubara coalmine plays an exceptionally significant role. This strike is a part of the events in this period and it influenced considerably both their course and their final outcome – the recognition of the actual results of the presidential election in FR Yugoslavia.
Growing civil and labour dissatisfaction, intensification of social conflict and massive civil protests all over Serbia against the repeated forgery of the electoral results, which showed that citizens were becoming less and less affected by the repression of the regime, certainly represented the essential context of this strike. |
