Zusammenfassung:Edward Leman is an urban and regional planner, and President of Chreod Ltd., a Canadian consulting firm that has worked in China since 1988. He is a member of the World Society for Ekistics (WSE) and a former member of its Executive Council. He has written several articles for Ekistics over the past 20 years. The text that follows is a revised version of a paper which was distributed at the WSE Symposion " Defining Success of the City in the 21st Century," Berlin, 24-28 October, 2001, that the author was finally unable to attend.
