Comment on Laura Kalman's Article

A controversy about how to interpret America's constitutional history of the 1930s has heated up. Dwelling on the emergence of that dispute, though, may inadvertently leave the impression that only in recent years has there been a challenge to what is now characterized as the orthodox view. In fact, there has never been a time when there has not been an alternative perception.
