Zusammenfassung: | David Maybury-Lewis, Chairman of Harvard University's Anthropology Department from 1973 to 1981 and holder of the Edward C. Henderson Professorship, was born in Hyderabad, India in 1930. He taught anthropology at Harvard from 1960 until he retired in 2004. He is probably best known for co-founding (with his wife, Pia) Cultural Survival, a non-profit organization that supported indigenous peoples' rights. In 1992 he hosted a popular anthropological TV series entitled 'Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World.' Professor Maybury-Lewis passed away on Dec. 2, 2007 at his home in Cambridge, MA, USA.
