Zusammenfassung: | In this article we consider some of the fundamental linguistic forces affecting the maintenance and loss of traditions in New Zealand playgrounds. We look at the effects of five pairs of opposing factors, as reflected in data collected in response to a questionnaire completed by classes at 150 schools throughout New Zealand. Children play a dual role as both conservators and innovators in ways that tend to follow fundamental patterns, but are basically unpredictable. |
