Zusammenfassung:How much has the recession shaped women's choice to take more circuitous career paths than men? Not a lot, it turns out. Our surveys from 2004 and 2009 yield surprisingly similar results. More than five years ago, in a robust economy, 37% of highly qualified women told us they were off-ramping - that is, voluntarily leaving their jobs for extended time periods. Last fall, using the 2004 questionnaire and a comparable sample of women, we discovered that off-ramps and on-ramps are here to stay, though a few things have changed. For instance, the percentage of off-rampers has dropped six points.
