The research and the popularization of the same ones are important for the development of the production of bovine. In conclusion, it is had that the research, of field and economic, it can be a tool for the productivity increment and needs the extension for the accomplishment of its role in the productive society. // ABSTRACT IN SPANISH: El artículo retracta la situación de la producción de bovinos de corte en el Estado de Mato-Grosso-del Sur y en Brasil, mencionando ítemes de relevancia para el aumento de la productividad de la cadena productiva, mercado de carne bovina y un estudio de caso sobre el efecto de la castración sobre el desempeño productivo y económico de bovinos en el municipio de Campo Grande, MS. En estudio de caso, el gano de peso del animal no castrado fue cerca del 10% mayor, con un coste semejante entre los animales castrados y no castrados, lo que denota mayor logro con la no castración, debido a los menores costes con medicamentos y pérdidas de peso. La pesquisa y la divulgación de las mismas son importantes para el desarrollo de la producción de bovinos. Finalizando, se tiene que la pesquisa, de campo y económica, puede ser una herramienta para el incremento de la productividad y necesita de la extensión para la realización de su papel en la sociedad productiva.
