Strain rate effect on the tensile behavior of Duplex Ti–46.5Al–2Nb–2Cr intermetallics at elevated temperatures
The tensile behavior of Duplex Ti–46.5Al–2Nb–2Cr (DP TiAl) intermetallics is studied at strain rates ranging from 0.001 to 1350 s −1 and temperatures from room temperature to 840 °C. The dynamic tensile tests are conducted on bar–bar tensile impact apparatus. Results indicate that DP TiAl is a strai...

−1 and temperatures from room temperature to 840
°C. The dynamic tensile tests are conducted on bar–bar tensile impact apparatus. Results indicate that DP TiAl is a strain rate and temperature dependent material. The plastic deformation of DP TiAl increases with increasing temperature and/or strain rate. The brittle-to-ductile transition temperature (BDTT) rises with increasing strain rate. The SEM observation shows that below BDTT the fracture mode changes from planar cleavage fracture to intergranular fracture with the increase of test temperatures. |
