Zusammenfassung:Chen appreciates Hosny et al's experimental investigation to develop a potential method to strengthen precast-prestressed hollow core slabs to resist negative moments using externally bonded carbon fibre reinforced polymer laminates. A similar approach can also he applied in repairing or upgrading existing damaged precast concrete slabs in buildings. A reasonable agreement with the test results was achieved in predicting the failure moments by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard CSA-S806-02 (CSA 2002) specification method using the debonding model. Some test findings interesting to Chen, however, were not well clarified when the test results were compared with the predictions based on the design method.
