Zusammenfassung:(Fe 0.80Ga 0.15Al 0.05) 98.5C 1.5 (at.%) ribbon was made by the melt-spinning method. This ribbon showed a large strain of 137 ppm and a high tensile stress of 860 MPa. The anisotropic texture with 〈1 0 0〉 preferred crystalline orientation in the ribbon plays an important role in increasing magnetostriction, and the mechanical strength is enhanced by grain refining during rapid solidification and subsequent precipitation hardening due to the carbide phase.
