Zusammenfassung: | In succession to the previous article to clarify a characteristic of Istanbul as Islamic city, this paper focuses on a transformation of physical urban structure during the second half of 16th century by analyzing urban facilities recorded in two Waqf survey registers of Istanbul. As a result, it is recognized that residential areas expanded toward the city wall while the location pattern of facilities changed little compared with the middle of 16th century. This phenomenon is considered as the urban sprawl of Istanbul in the 16th century by the accumulation of individual donations as Waqf. |
