Zusammenfassung:SUPERCHARGING is the increasing of the weight of charge delivered to an engine in excess of that normally inducted at the prevailing atmospheric pressures and temperatures. It can be accomplished to a small extent by the use of long intake-pipes by taking advantage of the ramming action of the air. When a large increase in mixture weight is desired, it is necessary to resort to blowers or compressors. This paper deals with the latter method of supercharging, which now is in vogue in the supercharging of aircraft and automobile engines.
