CHARACTERISATION OF THE DEHYDRATION OF AUSTRALIAN SEDIMENTARY AND VOLCANIC PRECIOUS OPAL BY THERMAL METHODS

Australian precious opals derived from two geologically distinct environments, denoted as volcanic and sedimentary, have been characterised by thermogravimetric (TG) and thermomechanical (TMA) analysis. Significant differences were observed in the dehydration behaviour and are related to the charact...

Zusammenfassung:Australian precious opals derived from two geologically distinct environments, denoted as volcanic and sedimentary, have been characterised by thermogravimetric (TG) and thermomechanical (TMA) analysis. Significant differences were observed in the dehydration behaviour and are related to the character of the water and the morphology of the opal specimens.
