Zusammenfassung:	In this study, the local deformation of an Al‐7wt.% Si alloy, a 10 vol.% particle reinforced and 20 vol% short fibre reinforced metal matrix composites is studied. The strain field at the surface of the materials during tensile testing inside a scanning electron microscope is determined by image analysis and compared with FEM simulations.
