Zusammenfassung:Simple dehydrogenation of 1-butene to form 1,3-butadiene was performed at 550–620 °C using Pt/SnO 2 -Al 2 O 3 catalysts (SnO 2  = 0–23 wt%) in the presence of steam. The low SnO 2 content catalyst (7 wt%) showed high selectivity to 1,3-butadiene, but the catalytic activity dramatically decreased due to coke formation during the dehydrogenation. With increasing SnO 2 content in the catalyst, the deactivation was suppressed by a decreasing amount of coke. The high one-pass yield (30%) was obtained at 620 °C using the Pt/SnO 2 -Al 2 O 3 catalyst containing 18.0 wt% SnO 2 without serious deactivation of the catalyst. Graphical Abstract
