Zusammenfassung:We aim to evaluate the Osteopontin (OPN) levels in patients with Celiac disease (CD) at diagnosis and exploring its association with mucosal atrophy and osteoporosis. The study included celiac patients at diagnosis and age and sex matched healthy controls. Subjects with additional intestinal pathology, other known inflammatory and autoimmune disease accompanying CD, and patients with signs of infection were excluded. Demographics, presenting symptoms, concurrent disorders, physical examination findings, laboratory results, celiac serology and histopathological assessment were recorded. A total of 36 celiac patients (23 girls, 13 boys, mean age 9.4 ± 4.5 years) and 36 healthy controls (22 girls, 14 boys, mean age 8.7 ± 4 years) were included. The median OPN level was significantly higher in patients [10.41 (9.34–13.47) ng/ml vs. 9.42 (7.56–10.19) ng/ml, p
