Zusammenfassung:According to WHO, increased identification of hvKp sequence type (ST) 23 isolates containing carbapenemases prompted the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Surveillance System on Emerging Antimicrobial Resistance Reporting (GLASS-EAR) earlier this year to request information pertaining to the strains in order to evaluate the ongoing global situation. “HvKp was initially recognised to cause life-threatening infections in healthy individuals from the community, often involving multiple sites, some of which are unusual for classical K pneumoniae, such as the central nervous system, eyes, and fascia”, said Thomas Russo (University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY, USA). [...]according to recent information, hvKp shows increasing geographic distribution, multidrug resistance, and health care-related association.
