Despite its critical role, our understanding of the underlying processes in the sleeping human brain is still limited. Sleep comprises several distinct stages with varying depths and temporal compositions. Cerebral blood flow (CBF), which delivers essential nutrients and oxygen to the brain, varies across brain regions throughout these sleep stages, reflecting changes in neuronal function and regulation.
