Zusammenfassung:	Short prolongation of waiting time seems to be less important than the presence of appendicolith for perforation risk; however, the predetermined power calculations did not cover this subgroup analysis, and patient-specific evaluation should be used when applying the results. A modified per-protocol analysis was performed to mitigate possible bias, and no statistically significant difference to the results was found.
