Letter to the editor of environmental pollution: In regard to Wan et al. (2024) “GenX caused liver injury and potential hepatocellular carcinoma of mice via drinking water even at environmental concentration”

•Wan et al. (2024) report mouse liver injury at low GenX (HFPO-DA) concentrations.•There are serious deficiencies in the liver histopathology analyses presented.•There are serious deficiencies in the gene expression analyses presented.•The drinking water results are inconsistent with GLP guideline gavage studies.•The analyses do not support evidence for liver injury at low environmental levels.
