Zusammenfassung:Electro-discharge-sintering (EDS) was applied to consolidate mechanical alloyed Ti-37.5at.% Si powder mixture without applying any external pressure. These powders were consolidated into a solid bulk of Ti5Si3 in less than 160mus by discharging a high voltage, high density current pulse through the powder column. A value of the lattice parameter for the consolidated Ti5Si3 compact was calculated as a=7.42A and c=5.17A, indicating that there is no compositional deviation after a discharge.
