N-/(trimethylammonio)acetyl/chitosan chloride and its amphiphilic derivatives. The degree of quaternization increases with increasing EEDQ/chitosan ratio and is partly accompanied by N-ethoxycarbonylation. That side-product formation can be minimized by increasing betaine/EEDQ ratio. |
