Zusammenfassung:Engineering properties and geotechnical application of the incinerator ash and molten slag from municipal solid waste (MSW) were investigated. First, the incinerator ash and molten slag were utilized as additives for improving the engineering characteristics of lime/cement treated surplus Ariake clay. Different contents (0, 15% and 30%) of the incinerator ash and molten slag from MSW were added into lime/cement treated surplus Ariake clay singly or together. Experimental tests evaluated the effect of the incinerator ash and molten slag on the improving strength and permeability characteristics of surplus Ariake clay, and aimed at making a granular material from the surplus Ariake clay. Second, the molten slag was blended with foamed waste glass (FWG) to make a light weight subbase or base materials. The mixtures were prepared with different the molten slag and foamed waste glass contents. Compaction properties, CBR value and permeability of the blended mixtures were evaluated in the study. From the result of the laboratory tests, the mixtures of molten slag and foamed waste glass at an optimum content, as a new light weight material, are sufficient for subbase or base in road construction.
