Toxicity of cyanide, iron-cyanide complexes, and a blast furnace effluent to larvae of the doughboy scallop, Chlamys asperrimus

This paper discusses the toxicity of NaCN, K sub(3)Fe(CN) sub(6), K sub(4)Fe(CN) sub(6) and a blast furnace effluent on the embryonic development of the doughboy scallop, Chlamys asperrimus. Zusammenfassung:This paper discusses the toxicity of NaCN, K sub(3)Fe(CN) sub(6), K sub(4)Fe(CN) sub(6) and a blast furnace effluent on the embryonic development of the doughboy scallop, Chlamys asperrimus. The sublethal endpoint considered is abnormality in the development of the embryo into a shelled, straight-hinged larva during the first 48 hr. The purpose of this study, being part of a wider research, was to investigate the sensitivity to free and complexed cyanides of organisms typically found in Australian waters.
