Zusammenfassung:In this paper, a practical approach for systematically estimating the geometric dimensions of cold forgings using the finite element method is presented. The forging process was simulated by a rigid-thermoplastic finite element method under the assumption that the dies and tools are rigid. Die structural and workpiece springback analyses were carried out using the information obtained from the forging simulation. The approach was applied to a test cold forging process. A comparison between predictions and measurements demonstrated that the proposed approach was acceptable for this application.
