Zusammenfassung:We present Raman and X-ray spectroscopic studies of cyclohexane up to 40 GPa. The high pressure phase of cyclohexane appears to be very stable up to and beyond 40 GPa. The nature of the resolvable R1 and R2 lines from ruby up to 40 GPa suggest that cyclohexane may be an excellent quasi-hydrostatic non-polar medium for very high pressure experiments.
