Zusammenfassung: | The practice of artificial ground-water recharge in U.S.A. is reviewed, with details of the method of treatment and final water quality prior to injection, for a number of representative installations. Descriptions of several recharge projects in California and one in Nassau County, N.Y. , are given, and the practice of ground-water recharge by landspreading or irrigation is also reviewed, with indications of the reduction in organic and bacteriological contamination as a result of percolation through the soil . Finally U.S. legislation concerning the operation of ground-water recharge systems is reviewed. |
