Zusammenfassung:The absorption spectra of CoC12/acetone systems were measured and analysed. Adding LiCI to the CoCl2/acetone solutions forced a stepwise formation of higher, negatively charged, chloro-Co-systems. The second derivative method was used to reveal the elemental absorption band positions of these tetrahedral and tetrahedral-like Co-complexes. A computer simulated experiment was performed to study the method's limitations. A doubt is raised concerning the accuracy of some literature data.
