Zusammenfassung: | A description is given of a plant treating wastewaters from a soft-drinks factory in Nicosia, Cyprus. Treatment included screening, air flotation, coagulation with aluminium sulphate, sedimentation, and biological treatment by the activated sludge process. The pH value, BOD and COD of the waste waters before and after the different stages of treatment are tabulated. Biological treatment reduced the BOD and COD by 64 and 70 per cent, respectively. Possible causes of the occasional failure of the plant to achieve these results are indicated. |
