Zusammenfassung:	Phenol-degrading strain QT 31 of Pseudomonas sp. was selected among other phenol-resistant bacteria from activated sludges of wastewater treatment plant of an oil refinery. Its capacity of degradation was studied at different periods of adaptation, reaching a phenol biodegradation rate of 28 mg/l phenol per hour, from minimal medium with 1000 mg/l phenol, after adaptation for 20 days.
