Getting Ready

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has long focused on supporting readiness and homeland security as part its mission, vision and strategic plan. Assisted by the leaders who serve on the SAME Readiness and Homeland Security Committee, SAME is moving forward in strengthening its efforts and in affecting positive change. In 2006, SAME's Board of Direction changed one of the goals of its Strategic Plan to emphasize the need to support the National Response Plan and the non-military aspects of national security. The goal now reads: 'National Security and Emergency Response. Support national security engineering and emergency response related priorities and programs, domestically and internationally, including preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.'
